Board of Directors Meeting Minutes People in attendance: Kristie Trieloff, Linda Drews, Herb
Redmond, Elizabeth Wood, Kim Jones, Jeff Leoni, Mary Kay Weston, Tina
Langhough, Attention: September 19th at 8:00am at the Comfort Suites in Johnson Creek is the Jefferson County Tourism Summit. RSVP to Kim Mungen (920)699-2800. Herb will be attending, call him if you’d like to car pool. Cambridge Country Christmas: The advertising budget is currently $1500. There is no Dickens Dinner or auction planned at this time. Elizabeth from A Box of Fluffy’s will be sponsoring the Madrigal singers. Jeff is figuring out music on Main Street for the holiday season. Friday night is the lighting of the Christmas tree. In the works is a possible open house event Friday night at participating businesses. Herb and Mary Kay are checking with other chambers to inquire their Country Christmas dates and whether or not they would like to pool advertising monies and other efforts. ( If not this year, then possibly next year..... What if there was an International Christmas theme…. ) Advertising for this event will be done first with a direct mailing that includes the dates and events of the weekend. (Nov. 30th- Dec. 2nd) Secondly with newspaper advertising, and hopefully as a season bonus some free television or radio coverage of the event. To bolster the budget for advertising we are going to make a face to face effort to collect $50 (minimum ask) from benefiting businesses- chamber members or not. Next CCC (Cambridge Country Christmas) meeting will be: October 6th: Mark your calendars for the First Annual Family Health Expo. CAP and other community members are organizing an event that is going to highlight options in the Cambridge area that promote health and wellness. The event will take place at the Veterans’ Park here in Cambridge. Events include a walk in Cam-Rock Park, speakers, demonstrations, and booths of Cambridge area businesses/organizations. The Cambridge Chamber is contributing $100 towards the cost of the event. Sandwich board signs: It is important that sandwich board signs on the sidewalk are done well and are safe to people and property. Do you have an idea for a good design? The village would like you to bring your ideas and collaborative efforts to the table to solve this problem. Next general meeting: October 24th 6:00pm at the
Amundson Center. It is a pot luck, so bring your best! |

Board of Directors Meeting Minutes 6 People in attendance: Jeff Leoni, Herb Redmond, Mary Kay Weston, Kim Jones, Kristie Trieloff and Tina Langhough and staff Pat Kruger Absent: Linda Drews & Elizabeth Wood Treasurer’s Report: No money to report. (treasurer, absent) Maxwell Street Days: Maybe only do one day next year. Pay attention this year for next. Country Christmas: Aug 15th at 6:00pm. Talk to Jan Carpenter if you are interested in helping. Cambridge/Deerfield Joint Chamber: Discussed request from Deerfield to join Chambers. Efforts to do joint events would be good. We would consider modified joint member rates. Someone needs to ask Deerfield, "What is your vision for this?" Advertising: What is the Chamber’s advertising budget? Should we do a direct mailing? What is a fair way to pay for mailing? Cost of mailing divided by number of people involved. Next meeting: Sept. 5th, 2007 |

Board of Directors Meeting Minutes 8 People in attendance: Kristie Trieloff, Herb Redmond, Linda Drews, Mary Kay Weston, Jeff Leoni, Elizabeth Wood, and Tina Langhough.
Next General Meeting: July 18th in the Veterans Park at 6:00pm. The plan is just to have an old fashioned picnic.
FYI: Although the goals of the chamber include supporting and promoting activities that increase revenue for the businesses of Cambridge, the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce is a not for profit organization.
Brochure design: white paper with Dark blue print. Corrections or changes to business listings should be made and communicated as soon as possible to Becky.
Advertising: Screen Visions idea. Advertising at the movie theatres at East Gate would cost $480 (divided by three) a wk. It does a couple of things A) promotes businesses in town colorfully, professionally, and repeatedly, and B) Brings a bit of home town pride to folks in the Cambridge area who may not know what fine businesses we have in town.
Maxwell street days: We should promote participation at this at the general meeting.
Charge account at the Pig: We don’t have one, so don’t charge
anything there. If you have to buy something for the chamber, pay for
it, and turn your receipts into Linda Drews. |

Board of Directors Meeting Minutes Pottery festival: Trolley busses were a no go, a bus would be around $465 for both days, we decided no. We will hang on to this information as a possibility for next year’s Renaissance Festival. Booster Club: The booster club wants to buy stuff from area business at a partial price. (Not just ask for a straight up donation.)They will send letters to all Cambridge area businesses. Relay for life: Contact Deb Mankowski.
Marketing: The new brochures are being held up by Businesses that haven’t yet paid. These businesses will be invoiced, given a deadline, and dropped if they do not pay.
Travel Center: Free advertising! Cambridge business information is posted in the travel center kiosk for 2-3 weeks at a time.
Welcoming new businesses: Kim, Kristie, and Elizabeth will coordinate the effort to welcome new or relocated businesses in town. We all agree that there should be a concerted effort to celebrate and support the new businesses in town. Efforts will be made to communicate with the village when there is a new business and vs.
Dicken’s Dinner: There is no building currently to hold
the Dicken’s Dinner. We need to check the inventory of left-over items
from previous Country Christmas events that are being stored in the
basement of Badger Bank.
Renaissance Faire: The food booth at the renaissance Faire netted about $500.
The next general meeting will be announced after the July meeting. Old fashioned picnic in the veteran’s park? |

Board of Directors Meeting Minutes Very exciting that Cambridge was named one of the top 100 towns in the Midwest. There has been interest in doing things with both the Deerfield and Marshall Chambers. Marketing committee The goal is to assemble a committee of 3-5 people to address advertising. Group advertising is top priority with a drive for "Fresh and New" ideas for future events and promotions. Other things that are important to this group are promoting important events in Cambridge even if they are not officially part of the chamber and promotion of the bike trails and parks. Group Advertising Make sure if you are approached by someone soliciting advertising direct them to someone at the chamber. Food at the Renaissance Faire We will be serving burgers, brats, hot dogs, and veggie burgers from 11-4 on both Saturday and Sunday. People are asked to volunteer to work 2 hour shifts. Call Jeff L. or Tina to volunteer (608)333-5934. Cambridge Hope is the same day as Renaissance Faire. Pottery Festival The chamber is willing to participate in group advertising, but not a trolley. Next scheduled board meeting is Wednesday, June 6 at 7:30a.m. / Chamber Office |

General Membership Meeting Minutes 28 people in attendance. April from the village office spoke. She encouraged any one who wanted to secure the use of any of the parks to apply at least two weeks in advance to allow for processing. Greg Klemko the contract building inspector for Cambridge also spoke. He conveyed his intentions as a building inspector to ensure renter, client, and event safety. Specifically he mentioned: *Make sure for events that there is adequate handicap accessibility. *Coordinate big signs and advertising with the village. * Make sure you fill out the change of occupancy form when there is a significant change in your building. Dean Care Offer. Angie from Stoughton presented a chamber health care program. Small businesses must have at least two people on the payroll to qualify. (Dean care is working on a single business owner plan, and 1099 employees do not qualify.) They are shooting for a July 1st effective date. This is not a bargain rate for insurance, but it would provide some benefits afforded to larger groups. The real benefit would come at renewal. The first chamber to participate in this type of plan is Beaver Dam. Their renewal rate hovers between a 7-8% increase vs. 20% increase for individuals. Group Advertising WPTV Auction. Donated items are auctioned off separately but together on the Cambridge board during the auctions. Donations must have a realistic money amount. Contact Herb or Jeff Leoni if you are interested. All donations are needed by MAY 4th, 2007. Renaissance Faire We are asking for volunteers in two hour shifts for the weekend of the Renaissance Faire. Please Contact Herb by: May 1st. Attitude. A good and healthy attitude about the business of Cambridge starts with us. We have to be positive. Cambridge is not dying -yes, there is always room for improvement, but there are a lot of good things going on in this town. Always be positive with your clients/customers, it reflects on the whole business community. Next General Membership meeting to be held mid July 2007 |

Assure people that their information will not be shared with anyone. Health Insurance Misc. The February (general membership) meeting is being rescheduled. Board of Directors Meeting February 7, 2007 Establish Meeting Calendar for 2007 It was decided to meet quarterly as a whole chamber with committees meeting as needed. The following are the dates of the upcoming chamber meetings: March 19th, at 6:00pm, June 18th, at 6:00pm, & Sept. 17th, at 6:00pm. At this time we are planning to meet at the Inn and Pub, if there is a change in this plan, you will be notified. Marketing Program Goal: A unified business community approach to advertising that maximizes the effectiveness of everyone’s advertising budget brings more attention to all that Cambridge has to offer and cuts down on door to door ("pirate") advertisement sales people. How: #1. A Quarterly published flyer. This flyer will contain the Cambridge Chamber logo and the info/logo of every participating business. Cost of this is included in Chamber dues. Wide spread distribution tactics are being determined. Flyer will also include a calendar of upcoming events during that quarter. Herb and Becky of the Voyager’s have generously offered to pay for printing of these flyers. #2. "Chamber CO-OP Advertising plan." This is an additional advertising effort which entails shared advertising spaces in area newspapers and magazines (longer shelf life.) Costs will be shared between those chamber businesses wishing to participate. Special events, big weekends, etc. will be times of interest to do Co-Op ads. 30-60 days notice should be given as notice of advertising opportunities. It is up to the individual business to plug into this advertising framework by the given deadline. Area Map Mary Kay is looking at possibilities of updating the currently distributed Cambridge area map. Concerns are: getting an updated map that includes all of the Cambridge area businesses, how many and who are going to participate on this map, cost, and distribution. More details as they become available. Timing of this project is good because there is a finite number of the old map remaining. Dickens Dinner Mugs Dickens dinner mug business is being wrapped up. Concerns about quality and cost are being addressed. The cost right now is $770 for 110 mugs. "New Membership Drive Committee" Christi is chairing and all present are committed to participating on this committee. Committee members will partner up or fly solo to invite all area businesses to participate in the chamber. What is the strategy? Emphasis on a positive future and answering the question, "Why should I participate-what does the chamber do for me?" Dues update: It has been determined that if an individual owns more than one business in Cambridge, normal chamber dues are paid ($365), plus "individual dues" for each additional business ($60.) Next scheduled board meeting is Wednesday, March 7th, 7:30a.m. / Chamber Office |
